A FEW THOUGHTS ON TODAYS READING...
If I were to make the comment that Science has probably done more harm than good, you might disagree, or you might agree with visions of such things as modern warfare or the atomic bomb. But my statement is referring to the fact that what science has effectively accomplished is to explain away the supernatural with the natural. What Science has done has stripped the created from the Creator in the minds of society. In many ways science has done more to steer people away from God than almost anything else. Science has done a good job of explaining how things work, what things are, on occasion why things occur, but has eliminated the most important truth, which is Who is responsible for all that we see in our world. By mastering the leaf we have completely lost our focus on actually who created the forest in the first place.
One thing more to consider, when God created the world in Genesis 1-2, which is more specifically explained in Job 38-41, His Creation was indeed perfect. It was in Genesis, chapter 3, from the fall of man, that sin actually entered into the world. We learn from this chapter that not only did man fall as a result of sin, but so did all of creation. Every disease is essentially the result of that original sin. No, the individual with cancer, did not sin any more than the one without the cancer, but cancer was not present until sin entered the world. Therefore, the most a physician can do is help fallen man with their fallen conditions and help preserve their fallen lives. The only real cure is supernatural. What every living person needs is a supernatural touch. The only cure for our sin problem is a realization and treatment by Jesus Christ, who alone is able to conquer sin and death. By removing the Creator from the created, in large part, Science, has removed the real cure for fallen humanity.
We move from the long debate between Job and his friends in Job 3-37 into one of the most beautiful descriptions of God's creation in 38-41. In it we find that God does not answer any of the questions posed by Job in His response to Job. Instead, He asks Job 77 questions drawing from His creation, of which Job cannot answer a single one, because creation can only really be explained by the Creator. We read in Job 38:4, "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding." God then explains much of His creation of the physical earth and the cosmos. He then goes onto to ask specific questions about specific animals which Job would be familiar with. He explains in 39:13-17 to ask Job why the Ostrich shows such blatant disregard to her own offspring, explaining in 39:17, "Because God deprived her of wisdom, And did not endow her with understanding." He goes onto to describe the inexplicable reality that a horse rushes into the danger of battle with total disregard to their own safety, asking Job to explain this strange phenomenon, stating in 39:25, "At the blast of the trumpet he says, 'Aha!' He smells the battle from afar, The thunder of captains and shouting." In 39:26, God refers to the movement south of birds as they instinctively migrate, some flying thousands of miles in their migratory habits.
Hopefully, your faith and trust is in the Creator and not the created. What the world needs more than a cure for cancer, has already been provided, which is a cure for sin and death. Jesus provided the cure 2000 years ago, but the world chooses to walk around blind and deaf to this truth which is available to all that truly seek it. You, who have been cured have the ability through the power of the Holy Spirit to deliver this message of life that only exists from our Creator, Jesus Christ. Again Science might be able to explain what, how, and why, but only those who exalt God, their Creator, can explain, Who! Though His Creation extends to all of us, sin has blinded the great majority. The cure is very exclusive, it is not all roads leading to the correct destination. Jesus clarified this when He said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." So may we all roll up our sleeves, and follow our commission as described by Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20, and make available the only real cure to our problems.
